Amazon Kindle Paperwhite model EY21 e-book reader, bought in 2013. This is a 5th generation Kindle model (1st generation Kindle Paperwhite) which is no longer in production. It works perfectly, and has been a joy to use over the years, but Im selling it now because Im moving to another country.Kindles are probably the most well-known brand of e-book readers. Despite its age, the reader is in excellent condition, with no visible wear and tear on its surface. It supports all standard e-book formats, and can even display regular PDF files on its screen. You upload e-books into it by connecting it to your computer and just dragging the files in. It works as a regular USB storage device with a capacity of 2 GB.The reader is about 11.5 cm × 16.5 cm, with a 6 inch, 212 PPI display. It is extremely light, even lighter than my smartphone. The display uses a technology called E-Ink, which greatly reduces glare. It also has adjustable back-lighting, which you can turn down in low light, and back up under intense light. My eyes are a bit sensitive and I cant look at a tablet screen for very long, but this has never been a problem with the Kindle. There is one hardware button on the device that is used to lock or unlock it. The touchscreen and the on-screen keyboard are used for everything else. You turn pages by swiping left or right. You can pinch or spread on the screen to change the font size. You can connect the device to your Wi-Fi and use its built-in web browser (a bit slow, but it works). You can even hold and tap words to look them up in the dictionary or on Wikipedia. The display technology helps the Kindle conserve power. Using a standard 1A USB adapter, the reader takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and then you dont have to charge it again for weeks. I dont have the original charging cable anymore, but any standard USB-A to micro-USB cable works. I will include a 1-meter black charging cable with the sale.I will also include the original Kindle Paperwhite magnetic cover. It is slim, protective, and a perfect fit for the reader. The magnetic flap opens from the side just like a book, and can fold all the way to the back. When the flap is closed, the readers sensors are triggered, which makes it go into power saving mode. You never have to turn off the device. Just close the cover and set it aside when youre done reading. This particular model is no longer in production, though it cost me 120 US dollars when I bought it. Some older Kindle models can be found in stores around 100 euros. New Kindle Paperwhite models have a price point of around 130 euros. A new magnetic cover costs around 15 euros.
