In this new live-action interpretation of the classic Italian fairy tale, we once again get to know the woodcarver Geppetto, whose wooden puppet Pinocchio is brought to life under magical circumstances. Gullible Pinocchio is easily misled, leading him on an adventurous journey filled with magical creatures and fantastic spectacles among friends and foes. However, the dream of becoming a real boy can only be realized if he once and for all starts listening to his father. Directed by acclaimed Italian director Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah, Dogman, Tale of Tales), the film is more faithful to Carlo Collodi’s 1881 storybook than the version Walt Disney introduced to the world in the 40s. With cutting-edge technology, stunning special effects and stunning Italian scenery, Garrone recreates the world-famous tale of Pinocchio as we’ve never seen it before. The role of Geppetto was played by Oscar-winning actor Roberto Benigni and Pinocchio by new star Federico Ielapi.
