David Lynch's first feature is a surrealist nightmare with its own rules of logic. Henry (John Nance) lives in a grimy tenement block set against a grey industrial landscape. When his girlfriend (Charlotte Stewart) becomes pregnant, she moves in and the couple try to look after their new baby: a slimy bundle of tissue whose screaming drives them to insanity.
