DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman co-write and direct this Polish drama based on the novel by Wladyslaw Reymont. In 19th century Poland, a young woman named Jagna (Kamila Urzedowska) longs to pursue something greater than what the close-knit village community can provide for her. She is pursued by the village's wealthiest farmer, a widower named Maciej (Miroslaw Baka) who wishes to marry Jagna, but Jagna is in love with his married son, Antek (Robert Gulaczyk). Promised plenty of land and riches of her own, Jagna marries Maciej, but as rising tensions between the villagers and landowners lead to conflict, everything is about to change.
