Psychological drama set against a backdrop of political upheaval and intrigue. Directed by French New Wave director Alain Cavalier, and co-written by 'Cyrano de Bergerac' scriptwriter Jean-Paul Rappeneau, the film stars Jean-Louis Trintignant as Clement, an affluent right-wing activist married to aspiring actress Anne (Romy Schneider). When Clement is betrayed by a comrade, he and Anne seek refuge in the home his friend Paul (Henri Serre), and Clement determines to find the man who betrayed him and wreak his revenge.
