Asghar Farhadi directs this Iranian drama about the far-reaching effects of an acrimonious divorce. Middle-class couple Nader (Peyman Moaadi) and Simin (Leila Hatami) plan to emigrate to Europe with their eleven-year-old daughter Termeh (Sarina Farhadi). But when Nader decides to stay behind to care for his Alzheimer's-suffering father, Simin files for divorce and states her intention to leave the country with her daughter. Tension escalates further when Nader hires housemaid Razieh (Sareh Bayat) to help him care for his father, bringing a whole new set of problems into a household already close to breaking point.
