Robert Altman directs this psychological drama starring Sandy Dennis as a lonely, middle-aged woman who invites a 19-year-old boy to live with her in her apartment. After finding an unnamed teenager (Michael Burns) in a nearby rainy Vancouver park, Frances Austen (Dennis) invites him to accompany her back home. In her pursuit of love and affection, and to assuage her long-time loneliness, Frances imprisons the boy and cares for his every need and desire.
